OK, today is January 3rd and I am beginning to realize that more of a plan is needed if I am to succeed in my quest for better health and finances. While I was busy yesterday helping out a neighbor with setting up for his daughter's sweet 16 party and then attending it with my two daughters, much of my original plans for adding to my success in my two areas of development have gone by the wayside so to speak.
My original plan was to take baby steps to help develop the necessary momentum and habits needed to guide my life back on track but I think additional goals would be helpful in focusing these efforts and guiding those, "baby steps."
Here is where I stand. Yesterday I actually had a chance to step on a real scale and even in my birthday suit I weighed in at a hefty 260.5 lbs with a fat % of 35.5. Finances have are still about $60k in debt but I need to make sure to add up the real numbers again as I fear something may be missing. This includes both my wifes and my debt as I hope to make a dent in both. This also does not include our mortgage and second mortgages which stand around $225k.
Health: Yesterday I did try to watch what I ate and did stay away from candies and beer. These two things alone did help somewhat as my weight this morning scaled in at 258lbs and 35% fat. I plan on introducing some fiber into my daily routine and get back on vitamins today. I do find that adding vitamins to a daily routine helps in promoting my energy level which helps in a variety of other tasks during the day. The fiber just helps keep things flowing . . . :)
Finances: Yesterday I did avoid having to buy lunch. While I was helping my neighbor we opted to go out to lunch and while we were going to buy lunch out, my neighbor who was also the coach of the town's girls basketball team suggested we celebrate with the team at a local pizza parlor where I ate for free. I know that was a small "baby step," but then again, what is a baby step anyway.
Goals today would be to read up on some other potential sources for getting better at health and finances and include them in upcoming issues to see what effect they will have. I am sure that consistency of effort will continue to be my main focus, but it would be good to add pieces of others efforts as well.
Until next time . . . .
